SALAMA MOHAMMED ON HER NEW SKINCARE LINE AND WHAT SELF-LOVE IS TO HER
Salama Mohammed is no ordinary influencer. With more than one million followers on Instagram, the Emirati content creator is known for her hilarious take on marriage and kids through the tongue-in-cheek videos she creates with her husband, which often have her two boys in it. Social media presence aside, Mohammed recently forayed into the beauty business by launching her own skincare line, Peacefull, which is currently stocked exclusively at Sephora stores in the UAE and is available through their website across the GCC.
The move seems natural, given her experience with vitiligo, a skin condition caused by the lack of melanin leading to pale white patches on the skin. Inspired by Korean skincare, her line currently includes three products that are made from high-quality ingredients and are free from any animal byproducts, sulphates, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. Savoir Flair speaks to Mohammed about her brand Peacefull, and what self-love is to her.
What inspired you to start your own skincare line?
I’ve been blessed with vitiligo and sensitive skin from early on, so I’ve always searched for skincare products that would provide my skin with what it needed, but couldn’t find ones that hit the mark for me. Eventually, through my search, I stumbled on Korean skincare and discovered the healing powers of active ingredients through the 10-step skincare routine, and I have not looked back since! I swear by it. It completely changed my skin and my relationship with skincare.
This ultimately led to me creating Peacefull, which you can say started out of necessity because I needed products that would help my sensitive skin. After finding Korean skincare and active ingredients, I wanted to share formulas that work with my community because I truly believe we all deserve good skincare!
How did you get the factory to manufacture products to withstand the heat?
Our products were placed within a 50-degree chamber for three months to ensure they could endure the sun-baked conditions of this region. Especially as the formulas are made from scratch, we needed to ensure they didn’t split and the aroma didn’t change.
You’ve often called your experience with dealing with vitiligo a blessing. What message can you give to others in terms of dealing with skin conditions in a positive way?
The first step to self-love and being at peace is all about perspective. Switching your outlook on skin, accepting your unique qualities, and ultimately making it your superpower can be hard, but is possible. Surround yourself with love and positivity. Your skin is a blessing! Don’t be hard on yourself or your skin. Love and nurture it.
What do you have to say to other women who deal with multiple skin issues and aren’t comfortable in their own skin?
First, you are unique! That in itself is your superpower and what makes you who you are. For your skin, don’t be scared to experiment with different products. It’s all about trial and error. Your skin will talk back to you, so listen to what it tells you.

Currently, my full routine for summer usually goes like this:
I start with our ‘Mugwort Clay Mask’ to cleanse my face. It’s a face wash that gives you the benefits of wearing a clay mask but with hydration, so you are not stripping your natural skin moisture. If I have makeup on, then I’ll double cleanse, otherwise, I move on to the next step. I do this in the morning and evenings.
Next, I love using my hands to apply the ‘Endless Purifying Toner’. I love this step as it’s an essence enriched toner, so I’m getting maximum hydration on the deepest level, which I follow with an under-eye cream. On days where I have more time, and just want to pamper myself a little more, I’ll use a sheet mask.
Then I’m putting on our ‘Ever Glow Moisturizer’, and what I love is it doesn’t leave you feeling like a glazed donut. There is no stickiness, oiliness or greasiness and yet it plumps your skin and gives you the natural, healthy glow that you deserve – especially during summer. Finally, I’ll put on some SPF – a very important step.
